  2. What important information do you want to add?
  3. What type of finish do you want on your printed material i.e. matte or glossy?
  4. Do you want to place information on both sides or only on one side of the card?
  5. What is the action you want from your audience?

Flyers

Flyers are generally a one page document that provides an affordable way to market your business or services.

  1. In order to communicate your business brand put your logo on your flyer for impact.
  2. Include contact information, check for clarity and spelling errors.
  3. Images: include images that tell your story, color images make an impact on your audience. If printing in black and white think about using color paper.
  4. Think of different design concepts: often to make the best impact an alternate layout with the same information is used. Create several designs to see which one works best for you.
  5. Your message: make sure your content is compelling. Provide concise, feature-laden content; check that spelling and grammar usage are correct. Make sure to include your contact information!

Brochures

  1. Types: A short list of brochure types are; tri-fold, self-mailers, 4-page brochures as well as catalogs. They also, vary in sizes two popular sizes are 8 1/2″ x11″ and 11″x17″.  Odd sizes are available upon request. Make sure you identify the amount of content. This decision will drive your design and layout.
  2. Color options: Most brochures are printed in more than one color. The more colors you use, the more impact you will see in the look and feel. Images convey more professionalism and people tend to remember the messaging in color.
  3. Paper color and weight: How important is it to use color for your ad; is the weight of paper important? The heavier the paper weight, coating and feel, the more professional the brochure will look.
  4. Consider page format:
  • Half Fold – Single fold providing 4 pages.
  • Tri Fold – Left and right flaps open to reveal a message inside.
  • Z Fold – The piece opens up like an accordion.
